FIREARMS TRAINING

“If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.” ~ Dali Lama

Below you will find a list and course descriptions of most of our firearms training and certification courses.  If you love guns, whether you're interested in concealed carry classes, tactical training, or drills to spice up your range time, you'll probably find something of interest here!

Get your Wisconsin Concealed Carry permit at home in your spare time!

If you're ready to join the over 9 million Americans who have a concealed carry permit and are looking for Wisconsin concealed carry certification classes, we offer you a wider variety of courses that meet your CCW certification needs than any other training company in the state! Depending on which course you take, we can also help you apply for a non-resident CCL permit for Florida so you can carry in over 34† states without having to take another class! We offer concealed carry permit training courses that are accepted in a wide variety of states, including: Florida, Wisconsin, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio. Laws are changing all the time, so more states may accept the NRA or USCCA certificate as fulfilling their concealed carry requirements. We do have certified instructors and an approved curriculum for the Illinois FCCL, but at this time Illinois is only approving applications if you are a resident of Illinois, Hawaii, South Carolina, and Virginia. If you are a resident of one of those states and need to take the IL concealed carry course, please contact us for more information and to set up a date.

Do you already have your permit and want some real concealed carry training or practice? Not a problem! We can train you to be more proficient than most Americans who carry firearms by utilizing a combination of dry practice drills, range training, and cutting edge laser technology. Give yourself the best chance to survive if you're ever forced to pull your gun.

We also provide home protection solutions tailored to your specific needs and location, including training you to defend your home from multiple intruders, something increasingly likely these days. These home defense courses work very well in conjunction with some of our other non firearm-related courses, such as our in-home evaluations, In Case of a Break-In, Creating A Safe Room, and Making A Defensive Home.

We offer abbreviated lectures on most of the topics below, including the Reasonable Person Test, firearms safety, concealed carry basics, every day carry, home defense, choosing and buying a gun, and so on. Please feel free to contact us if your group needs a speaker on one of these or a related topic.

Course Descriptions

Wisconsin Concealed Carry (CCW) Certification Courses:

We offer four concealed carry courses designed for different skill levels, which can certify you for a variety of permits. Please contact us for more information on the one(s) you're interested in.

Basic Wisconsin CCW Course

Advanced Wisconsin CCW Course

USCCA Certified Course

NRA Certified Course

USCCA Courses:

Home Defense

The Home Defense course helps students develop the awareness necessary to avoid danger, the basic skills and knowledge to defend themselves if confronted with a threat, what they'll face after a shooting, and some of the tools that make defense easier.

Basic Handgun

Aimed toward newer handgun owners, this course will discuss the basics of firearm functions, self-defense shooting skills, and some devices that are commonly added to, or used with, handguns. Also includes some skills for further practice and development on your own after the class.

Concealed Carry

The concealed carry class covers a range of topics from situational awareness and confrontational avoidance, to self-defense fundamentals and how to clear malfunctions you might experience in the midst of a gunfight.

Please request a copy of the USCCA certified course description in the CCW section for a full list of subjects covered in this class.

NRA Courses:

FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation

FIRST stands for Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training. This is a firearm orientation program for new pistol purchasers/owners. This course is model specific (focusing on just one model handgun), and provides a thorough introduction to firearm safety, handling, storage, ammunition, and shooting skills.

Basic Pistol Shooting

The Basic Pistol Shooting course introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities.

Please request a copy of the NRA certified course description in the CCW section for a full list of subjects covered in this class.

Personal Protection Inside The Home

This course exposes students to several schools of thought regarding defensive shooting techniques. Includes an introduction to defensive shooting, pertinent laws, strategies for home safety and how to respond to a violent confrontation, selecting a pistol for self defense, and development exercises.

Other Courses:

Wisconsin Concealed Carry Certification

This Wisconsin CCL certification course is based on the curriculum the DOJ uses to train their own people. The Basic course is for new or non-shooters and covers the components of various handguns, including how to make them safe or verify if they're loaded or empty, and the fundamentals of shooting. The Advanced course is for those who shoot on a regular basis but need a concealed carry permit. This covers the basics required by Wisconsin Law in abbreviated form, but then moves into more advanced shooting exercises and topics.

Please request a copy of the Basic or Advanced Wisconsin CCW course descriptions in the CCW section for a full list of subjects covered in this class.

Alternate CCW Certification

If you have taken an NRA or USCCA concealed carry class from another instructor or school, but want to be able to carry in more places, we may be able to help you take the steps necessary to carry in over 30† states. This includes providing the applications and paperwork, and directing you on filling out the paperwork correctly, to obtain non-resident permits from other states with as little hassle or time spent as possible.

Concealed Carry Crash Course

There are a lot of courses that'll allow you to apply for a concealed carry license in Wisconsin, but few of them include any instruction on practical conceal and carry skills. This course covers all the things you need to know but weren't taught, such as choosing a holster to carry your pistol, how to draw and present your firearm from concealment, and how to holster it, how to perform the four vital moves that could keep you alive after a shootout. It also covers how to deal with the police if you're carrying concealed, what to say after a shooting, and what you must know before you ever use your gun in self-defense.

Every Day Carry (EDC) Principles

Congratulations on becoming a responsibly armed American! But if you don't know what to carry, how to carry it, or if your gun is sitting in the safe all day, it could get you killed. Students will learn why it's so important to carry every day, how to select a concealed carry holster, options of concealed carry handguns, how to select one that best suits their needs, and how to carry your personal safety at all times. This course does not contain any shooting or drills. For training with your equipment, please see our Concealed Carry Crash Course (above). These two courses can easily be combined for a discount.

Handgun, Shotgun, and Rifle Training

From the complete beginner to the intermediate shooter, everyone can use a fresh observer providing feedback or an introduction to new skills, ideas, and drills. We'll meet you at the range of your choice (or your backyard, if that's where you do your shooting), and give you pointers on how to improve your shooting, or provide new drills to incorporate into your existing training regimen. We even offer full-day courses that will guide the new or non-shooter through all aspects of using a firearm, from stance to the Three Secrets of marksmanship and beyond.

Practical Firearms Orientation and Operation (Pistol, Shotgun, or Rifle)

Whether you have recently had a rifle, pistol, or shotgun come into your possession, or are considering purchasing one, this course is designed to help you understand the basic operation of the firearm of your choice, the components, and the function. Like the NRA First Steps course, we can focus on just your particular firearm. If you just want to become more familiar with firearm systems in general before choosing one, we can provide an overview of the various types. This course can be combined with the Choosing and Buying a Gun.

Home Defense Training

Every home is unique, and has a special set of defenses and dangers. Our instructors will come to your residence and teach you how best to defend it, whether from a burglar in the night or a group of determined attackers. You'll learn the difference between cover and concealment, where to find each on your property, and tactical movement through your house.
